IDF Searches Syria for Downed Israeli Pilot
There has been a Severe Gag Order on Security Incident on a situation developing in Quneitra, Syria. Reports of Israeli jets, helicopters and ground forces entering Quneitra. IDF declared extreme alert on Syrian borders after reports an Israeli was missing in ISIS linked territories.
Finally the IDF released the full story as follows.
An Israeli-Arab from Jaljuliya flew a paraglider into Syria on Saturday afternoon, from the southeastern Golan Heights.
An IDF spotter identified an Israeli hang-glider landing on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, which led to a series of events trying to identify and find the pilot. At the time, Israel did not know the identity of the pilot, and assumed the worst.
The IDF launched a massive search and rescue operation with dozens of helicopters and jets and reportedly, even ground troops who were sent up to the border. The IDF spokesperson said they do not know where he took off from. Security forces believe the Israeli-Arab pilot wanted to join ISIS.
ISIS is claiming they captured an Israeli pilot. Jaljuliya is an Israeli-Arab town just east of Kfar Saba, at the entrance to the Shomron.
