Hillel Yafa Ariel stabbed her in her bed in Kiryat Arba
Hillel Yafa Ariel, a 13 year old Israeli girl, has died of her wounds after a terrorist broke into her house in Kiryat Arba and stabbed her in her bed Thursday morning.
The Arab terrorist climbed over the security fence surrounding the Harsina neighborhood, infiltrated one of the houses located just yards away from the fence, and stabbed Ariel, critically wounding her. The girl suffered from stab wounds all across her upper body, and was evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem where she later died of her wounds. the attacker jumped the fence — a breach that sent an alert to the IDF and civilian security guards in the area — and broke into the girl’s bedroom.
He later stabbed a 31-year-old man, part of the of community’s civil security squad, seriously wounding him. Despite his grave injury, the man was able to shoot the terrorist dead.
It appears the male victim, a civilian guard responding to the attack, was accidentally shot by other guards in an effort to neutralize the attacker, according to initial reports. He was hit in the upper body and the leg. He was in moderate condition when he was brought to the hospital, and there was no immediate threat to life, according to his doctor, Prof. Avi Rivkind.
The female victim, who was unconscious and had no heartbeat when emergency responders arrived to provide first aid, was evacuated to Shaarei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem. Doctors attempted to resuscitate the victim, but were ultimately forced to declare her death.
A Kiryat Arba spokesperson said the terrorist penetrated the town’s security perimeter and entered the Ramat Mamre (Givat Harsina) neighbourhood. Forces searching for the cause of the breach heard screams coming from the house and raced in to find the girl with multiple stab wounds in her bed, according to Channel 10.
The girl’s father and other guards fired shots at the attacker, killing him, and also wounding the responding guard.
The terrorist has been identified as Muhammad Tararia, a 17-year old resident of the Arab village of Bani Naim.
The army announced it was enforcing an open-ended closure on the Palestinian village, which is home to more than 20,000 residents, beginning Thursday afternoon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman also announced they would revoke the work permits of Tarayrah’s extended family and “the home of the terrorist would enter the process of being approved for demolition,” they said in a joint statement.
“This appalling murder of an innocent girl in her bed displays the lust for murder and inhumanity of the terrorists who are drenched in incitement whom we have to face,” the prime minister added.
Bani Na’im is the hometown of a number of Palestinians who have carried out attacks. Tarayrah’s cousin, Yussef Walid Tarayrah, who also lived in the village, carried out a car-ramming attack on Israeli soldiers in March, lightly wounding one. And last Friday, Majd al-Khudur, a resident of the town, plowed her car into an Israeli couple’s vehicle outside of Kiryat Arba, lightly wounding them.
